RunRival is a web application that connects runners for friendly competition and community building. The service includes:
- Matching algorithms to connect compatible runners
- Challenge creation and tracking systems
- Messaging features for communication between users
- Prize draw system with real rewards
- Integration with Strava for activity verification
3. Eligibility
To use RunRival, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid Strava account
- Provide accurate registration information
- Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
- Not be prohibited from using the service under applicable law
4. User Accounts and Responsibilities
Account Creation
You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.
Profile Information
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information in your profile. You're responsible for keeping this information updated.
Strava Integration
RunRival requires connection to your Strava account. You must ensure that your Strava data is accurate and represents legitimate running activities. Falsifying running data or manipulating activities is prohibited.
5. Community Standards and Prohibited Conduct
RunRival is built on principles of good sportsmanship and mutual respect. The following behaviors are prohibited:
General Prohibitions
- Harassment, bullying, or threatening other users
- Sharing inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
- Impersonating others or creating fake profiles
- Spamming or sending unsolicited commercial messages
- Attempting to circumvent security measures
Competition Integrity
- Falsifying running data or challenge results
- Using non-human means to generate activities (e.g., motorized transport)
- Colluding with other users to manipulate challenge outcomes
- Creating multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages
Enforcement
Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination. We reserve the right to investigate suspicious activity and take appropriate action.
6. Challenges and Competition
Fair Play
All challenges must be conducted fairly and in good faith. Participants agree to compete honestly using legitimate running activities recorded in Strava.
Dispute Resolution
In case of disputes regarding challenge results, RunRival will review Strava data and make final determinations. Our decisions are binding and final.
Challenge Cancellation
We reserve the right to cancel challenges if we detect fraudulent activity, technical issues, or violations of these terms.
7. Prize System
Eligibility
Prize entries are earned through legitimate challenge victories. Only users in good standing are eligible for prize drawings.
Prize Fulfillment
Prizes are awarded at our discretion and subject to availability. We're not responsible for prize delivery issues beyond our control.
Taxes and Fees
Winners are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or fees associated with prize receipt.
No Cash Value
Prizes have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold, or redeemed for cash.
8. Intellectual Property
RunRival Content
All content, features, and functionality of RunRival are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit (profile information, messages, etc.) but grant us a license to use it for operating the service.
Prohibited Use
You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from RunRival content without our express permission.
9. Privacy and Data
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using RunRival, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers and Limitations
Service Availability
RunRival is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free operation.
Third-Party Services
RunRival integrates with Strava and other third-party services. We're not responsible for the availability or functionality of these external services.
Health and Safety
Running involves inherent risks. Consult with healthcare professionals before beginning any exercise program. RunRival is not responsible for injuries or health issues related to running activities.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RunRival's liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months (which is $0 for free users).
11. Termination
By You
You may terminate your account at any time through the app settings. Termination doesn't relieve you of obligations incurred before termination.
By Us
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, fraudulent activity, or for any reason with or without notice.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use RunRival ceases immediately. We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction to be specified]. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than court proceedings.
You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
